-the "boutique" school, where we give you MORE of what you go to sailing school for!SM

April 14, 2013: Day 3 of the first learn-to-sail class of the season.  One of them is a descendant of Captain Cook!  That hanging cloth is a double-reefed mainsail - windy that day!  Only 3 students per boat: unofficial industry standard is 4 - one of the many ways we give you MORE of what you go to sailing school for.SM

New additions to our School/Club fleet...
"Beat of Sea" is a Seafarer 26 with tiller, Yanmar diesel, and CDI roller furling.  Sleeps 4 and is ready for overnighting.

"Perigee" is a C & C 33 Mk I.  She has an Atomic 4 and we're going to repower with a diesel.  She's wheel steered with Hood roller furling.  Sleeps 6 and is a truly pedigree (ha!) sailling vessel.

Our logos might be goofy, but our sailing is serious.  That's why the woman above is singlehanding!  Yes, you'll do that in our learn-to-sail/Basic Keelboat course, Start SailingSM.  Sounds intimidating?  Don't worry - it's actually fun, just like our equally effective Obstacle CourseSM- another NYSC signature (and exclusive).  After the course, your two supervised practice sails without an instructor on board leave you ready to truly sail and skipper the boat.

On top of all this, we're easy to get to by public transit and by car.  We'll even pick you up from Manhattan!

Two Universities with Manhattan locations - Columbia and Fordham - have their sailing teams train at City Island.  What does that tell you about learning to sail here instead of Manhattan / NY Harbor / Hudson River?
(See a short video clip of the Fordham team starting a race!).

WELCOME! We're on a Mission...
...to provide the finest sailing instruction available at any price - something we started doing in 1968!

Our family is an award-winning industry leader.  We combine decades of owner-operation with fresh enthusiasm, and we have an enviable amount of real, hands-on experience.

Teaching aids, location, boat selection, choice of instructors, and experience all come together in perhaps the most finely developed program in the industry.

We're a 'Green Dot' Certification Facility for the American Sailing Association!  That means we've had our boats undergo Vessel Safety Checks by the US Coast Guard Auxiliary.  Out of 13 ASA schools in New York, we're one of only 2 with a Green Dot listing.

Browse around this site; watch a few of our video clips.
You'll quickly learn why you can't get a better sailing school education - OR value - anywhere else!
